Dear Friends,
Each year, our Vacation Bible School takes over the church for a week in early August. This year is no exception, and once again, it has exceeded our expectations for fun and fulfilling ways to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
The concept for 2024 was based on the lives of sea life characters in our ocean like Tad the Puffer Fish, Waylon the Whale, Finnley the Dolphin, Fisher the Seal, Octavia the Octopus and was entitled SCUBA Diving into Friendship with God. Each day there was a story based on one of these characters and was often reflected in the various activities after the opening worship.
The music at VBS is themed, upbeat and exciting, mostly new with a few old favorites, and gives us an insight into the kind of music that we need to effectively reach the children and youth of today.
Last year, our attendance numbers were around 46 children, this year we nearly doubled our turnout with 80 children. We could not do VBS without our inspiring VBS director, Susie Christensen, Bev in the church office, Brian on tech and Camera, our adult church members and friends, our 27 counsellors, and 15 station leaders and assistants. Thanks to Susie and our dedicated, hard-working team, VBS has successfully returned with growing interest each year and is once again an essential part of our church’s life and witness.
